The key to increasing sales is knowing what to do with your social media accounts, said Andrew Horsfall, founder and CEO of Horsburgh & Lohner Social Media.

“You want to make sure you’re using social media in a way that will enhance your social network, increase your followers, increase brand awareness, and increase sales,” Horsfalls told Business Insider in a phone interview.

Horsfalls first used Facebook in 2002 to launch his company and now he uses Facebook more often as a tool to boost his social media presence and reach than Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn.

“It’s really hard to do that, but it’s really important that you’re doing that because the people who are following you will also be following you, so it’s a really great way to engage with your audience,” Hulses said.

If you’re looking for tips to use your social networks for increased sales, Horsdowns advice is simple.

“I would say the most important thing to do is create a really solid, engaging social presence on your website and that’s a lot more likely to sell.”
